·         Conduct Toolbox safety meeting for all involved rig personnel.

 

·         Communicate circulation and conditioning requirements with appropriate personnel.

 

·         Review hole stability before tripping to run casing. Refer to Tripping Checklists

 

·         Bottom hole location survey is required, prior to POH to run casing.

 

·         Check the following before coming out of hole to run casing:

 

1.     What is the buoyed hook load of the casing and the block?

 

2.     How much over pull will be allowed to reciprocate the pipe or to pull free if stuck?

 

3.     How many lines will be needed for hook load requirements?

 

4.     What is the load rating of the structure and derrick?

 

5.     Is the drawwork capable of handling this job all the way down? Verify by picking up casing string @ 13 3/8” shoe and checking the drawwork, if any overheating observed. On running casing, check drawwork overheating as well.

 

·         Make-up cement head to landing joint.  Review operations and pressure rating criteria.

 

·         Confirm that 9 5/8” casing rams are installed and tested.

 

·         Function and test all BOPE, as required.

 

·         Review rig maintenance and ensure that cutting and slipping drill line will not be necessary while running casing.

 

·         Ascertain whether torque gauges are calibrated properly and are the correct gauge for tongs being utilized. Differential pressure readings are not adequate.

 

·         Torque turn or equivalent should be utilized on connections.

 

·         Since the floating equipments are differential fill up type, make up shoe track first and then activate floating devices. Shoe track is comprised of shoe, two joints of 9 5/8”, 53.5 lb/ft, BDS, NT-95 HSS, R-3 and float collar. To activate, M/U swage and pressure up string to +/- 800 psi. Pressuring up will happen twice, since there are two floating equipments in the string.

 

·         Run approximately 127 joints of 9 5/8”, 53.5 lb/ft, BDS, NT-95 HSS, R-3 casing. When getting 13 3/8” shoe, circulate for one casing volume. Do not exceed 800 psi pressure.

 

·         M/U 9 5/8” CAP (Casing Annulus Packer). M/U 9 5/8” stage cementer.

 

·         Run the rest of 9 5/8”, 53.5 lb/ft, BDS, NT-95 HSS, R-3 casing to mud line.

 

·         M/U 9 5/8” mud line hanger as per ABB specialist instruction. Then run 9 5/8”, 53.5 lb/ft, BDS, NT-95 HSS, R-3 casing to surface. Adjust the last 5 joints in such a way to have good stick up. Use pup joint, if necessary.  Adjust casing string to have four meters of rat hole.

 

·         Check running-in-hole displacement criteria

 

·         Review makeup torque, special threads requirements.

 

·         Communicate sections of hole instability and have work instructions in place before running casing.

 

·         Prepare special instructions, as necessary, for running procedures; possible shallow gas, kill operations, etc.

 

·         Ensure proper handling tools on the rig floor, and make any necessary risk assessments.

 

·         Ensure stabbing board is in place properly and safe.

 

·         Confirm proper calibration and rig-up of all test & torque verification equipment.

 

·         Communicate swab and surge criteria to all appropriate personnels.

 

·         Inspect trip tanks, mud tank levels and condition.  Verify operation of transfer pumps.

 

·         Communicate and post maximum over pull allowed on casing during running or pulling operations.

 

·         Ensure proper doping techniques are utilized.  Consider using a paintbrush.

 

·         Use thread locking compound on both pin and coupling threads of all float equipment and stage cementing equipment.

 

·         Inspect all handling devices for picking up and running of casing.

 

·         Clamp-on or inflatable thread protectors are recommended.

 

·         Communicate the importance of all thread makeup and alignment to minimize thread damage. Make up casing to API recommended optimum torque (or as per drilling program). Torque to be not less than specified minimum torque and not more than specified maximum torque.  Use of stabbing guide is recommended.

 

·         Check float operation on initial insertion into the hole.

·         Fill-up casing using fill up device system.

 

·         If float in casing, insure casing and float shoe/collar differential are adequate.

 

·         Communicate wash down criteria, if any, along with circulating and conditioning (staging) criteria while running in the hole.

 

·         Check length of land joint to be sure the collar of the preceding joint can be set below the casing head flange while still leaving adequate pipe above the Kelly bushing to clear elevators.

 

·         Communicate landing criteria to appropriate personnel. Land mud line hanger as per ABB specialist procedure.

 

·         Review circulating and conditioning criteria before cementing.

 

 

9 5/8” cementing  

 

·         Circulate 120% of casing volume after reaching TD. Monitor for losses.

·         Cement casing as per Halliburton program. Some figures in the program might change due to change in TD. The figures mentioned in the Halliburton program needed to be checked and revised based on TD by WSS.

 

Sequence Of Operation & Notes

 

  • Conduct safety meeting prior to perform cementing operation with all the crew involved.
  • N/U cementing head. Load top plug. M/U cementing line. Flush with sea water. Test to 3000 psi.
  • Pump the pre-flush, flo check and fresh water.
  • Mix and pump lead cement corrected figures.
  • Cement slurry weights to be checked using both electronically and true weight scale. Samples of slurry and mix water are to be taken during cement job.
  • On displacement and when cement reaches shoe, monitor and record losses.
  • Drop top plug and displace with mud using rig pumps. Correct displacing volume based on actual figures. Record final displacing pressure prior to bump the plug. Slow down pump rate prior to bump the plug. Pressure test casing with 1000 psi.
  • Bleed off pressure. Check for back flow.
  • Perform setting the CAP as per Odfjell specialist instruction. The setting pressure is 1550 psi, but based on the mud return, if you get the volume that you’ve pumped, consider extra pressure regarding the U-tube effect caused by cement column. Open hole volume based on calliper is 682 bbls to 3476 m.
  • Drop opening plug. Open ports. Circulate to clean ports. The circulation time will be continued until getting cement needed for 2nd stage from supply vessel. Monitor closely for losses.
  • Load the shut off plug. Perform 2nd stage cement job based on actual depths.
  • Drop shut off plug. Displace with mud using rig pumps. Close ports. Pressure up to 1500 psi. Hold for 10 min. bleed off same. Check for return.
  • N/D cementing head.
  • Open ports in MLS. Circulate to wash around the MLS. Close MLS ports. As per ABB specialist instruction.
